It is better to praise to much than too little. The receiver will never abuse this!

Linked from www.ledelse.info, a part of an article concerning brain and patterns:

Our brain is lazy when it can

I would say that our brain is lazy, as lazy it can to save energy for more important tasks. Changes which requires anlyzes is avoided - without our consiousness. Don't you often sit at the same seat in the cantina, on the bus, in the classrom. Don't we often buy the same detergent as our mother, making it difficult for new product to enter the market.

Within music I think we can clearly see that our brain prefers the expected, patterns and change of pattern with easy relationships. Even if the musicpace is difficult, we will discover if it is not syncron.

But we find in the music itself some interesting relationships. When playing in C-key, the most popular notes is C, F and G. F and G I calcuated to be 33,5% and 49,8% higher than C, quite close to 1/3 and 1/2. The E-note is also important in C-key, E is 26% higher than C, quite close to 1/4. The four most important notes has as the relations 1/1, 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4. This proves we prefer music where the notes has simple relationships, and that one note follows some kind of patterns from the previous one. This is prbably the reason why the music is divided in 12 half-notes, not divided in 10 i.e. Only by this dividing in 12, the notes will have such easy relationship. Our lazy brain has been heard!
